Accelo MCP connector: what it does, what access it gets, how to connect

Accelo hosts one MCP connector. An admin sets it up once, and it answers questions from Accelo data within each user's permissions. Writes are described as coming soon. Verified 21 Oct 2026.

  • Official MCP serverOfficial remote MCP · read (writes described as coming soon)
Hosting
Remote, hosted by Accelo. Accelo says an admin connects it with a remote MCP server URL; the endpoint URL is not published on Accelo's MCP page or in its reachable help docs.
Auth
Accelo says an admin sets up a secure sign-in once, then each team member connects and signs in. The sign-in method (OAuth or other) is not documented by the vendor.
Read / write
Read and analyse today, per Accelo. Acting through MCP (logging time, updating tasks) is described as coming soon, but Accelo's FAQ answers "Both, within your permissions" to whether AI can change data.
Works with
Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini (Accelo FAQ); the page headline names Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot Studio instead of Gemini.
Plan requirement
Not documented by the vendor. Accelo's MCP page doesn't say which plans include it, and its pricing page shows no list prices: Accelo quotes per customer based on team size.

What can an agent do with Accelo through MCP?

It answers questions about your projects, clients, utilisation, budgets, invoices and renewals from live Accelo data. Answers are limited to what the signed-in user can already see. Accelo says taking actions is coming soon.

Accelo describes the connector as the same intelligence as its built-in AI, reached from the assistant you already use. It pitches it for questions that combine Accelo data with CRM, accounting or support tools.

Accelo's own example

  • Clients with forecast margins below 25%
  • Invoices more than 30 days overdue
  • Utilisation under target
  • Contracts renewing within 90 days

Tools and writes

  • Accelo publishes no tool list or tool count.
  • The page is inconsistent on writes. The body says teams will soon be able to log time or update tasks. The FAQ says the AI can both view and change data within your permissions.
  • Until Accelo documents write tools, treat the connector as read-only and confirm with Accelo before relying on any write.

Can

  • Answer questions on project health, profitability and budgets, per Accelo
  • Report on utilisation, capacity and resource availability, per Accelo
  • List overdue invoices, revenue forecasts and upcoming renewals, per Accelo
  • Read time entries and project risks, per Accelo
  • Combine Accelo answers with other tools connected to the same assistant

Cannot

  • Log time or update tasks yet; Accelo describes acting through MCP as coming soon
  • Show a user anything their Accelo role and permissions don't already allow, per Accelo
  • Copy or permanently store business data as part of the connection, per Accelo

What access does it get?

Each user's existing Accelo roles and permissions, after an admin sets up the connection once; Accelo doesn't publish scope names.

WhereScopes and permissions (as documented)Admin requirement
Accelo MCP connector (remote)Not documented by the vendor. Accelo says answers follow the roles and permissions already set in Accelo, so sensitive financials and client data stay under existing controls, and access can be added or removed in Accelo at any time.An Accelo admin sets up the connection once, per Accelo; team members then connect their own assistant and sign in. Claude Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds the connector. ChatGPT Business/Enterprise: an admin must enable developer mode or allow the app.

How do I connect it?

An Accelo admin sets up the connection once with Accelo's remote MCP server URL. Each person then adds it in their AI assistant and signs in. Accelo doesn't publish the URL, so ask Accelo for it.

  1. Ask your Accelo admin (or Accelo) for your remote MCP server URL; Accelo doesn't publish it.
  2. In Claude (web or desktop), go to Customize › Connectors, click + and choose Add custom connector. Team/Enterprise Owners add it under Organization settings › Connectors.
  3. Name it Accelo, paste the URL, click Add, then Connect and sign in to Accelo.
  4. In a chat, open + › Connectors and turn Accelo on.

No Accelo listing in Claude's connector directory as of 21 Oct 2026. Accelo doesn't document Claude-specific steps.

What should a finance team watch for?

Public documentation is thin: no published URL, auth method, scope list, tool list or plan requirement, and Accelo's own page is inconsistent on writes and supported clients.

  • Read/write is unclear. The page body says actions are coming soon, but the FAQ says AI can change data within your permissions. Ask Accelo which write tools exist before connecting, and keep per-tool approval on in your AI client.
  • No least-privilege control is documented beyond Accelo roles. Each person signs in as themselves, so the assistant can reach everything that person's Accelo role allows, including financials if the role can see them. Accelo documents permissions per role only and describes no separate setting for the connector. Consider a narrower Accelo role for heavy users before they connect, and remove access in Accelo when it isn't needed.
  • Accelo's help-centre MCP article, which search engines still index, returned 404 on 21 Oct 2026, so setup details (URL format, any client ID) could not be verified.
  • Client notes, task descriptions and emails come back as free text. An injected instruction in one could steer the agent. Once write tools exist, it could push the agent to log time or change a task, so read each confirmation.
  • Accelo says MCP retrieves data on request and does not copy or permanently store it. It makes no training statement on its MCP page; check Accelo's terms, its data processing addendum and your AI provider's terms.

How could finance teams and accounting firms use it?

Accelo is professional services automation, so the documented read access suits questions on profitability, utilisation, billing and renewals. Any future writes would need a person to confirm each change.

Inside a company

  • For an in-house services team on Accelo, ask which projects are over budget or below target margin this month.
  • List invoices more than 30 days overdue with the client owner, as input to a collections review.
  • Compare utilisation and capacity by team before a hiring or forecast discussion.

At an accounting firm

  • For a firm that runs its own practice on Accelo, ask which client engagements are least profitable and why.
  • Prepare for a partner meeting with a summary of overdue invoices, renewals and project risks.
  • Review time entries against budgets for a client before billing.

Whatever the use, keep a person approving anything that changes Accelo or your books, and treat AI-produced figures as drafts until they tie to Accelo's reports.

FAQ

Is this official?

Yes. Accelo describes and hosts the MCP connector on its own site. Separate Accelo MCP servers from Selerity (open source, MIT), CData and Composio are third-party and not run by Accelo.

Is it free?

Accelo doesn't say. Its MCP page gives no plan or price, and its pricing page shows no list prices: Accelo quotes per customer based on team size and doesn't say which plans include AI and MCP. Ask Accelo for a quote. Your AI client may need a paid plan; ChatGPT developer mode does.

Does it change data in Accelo?

Not clearly. Accelo says acting through MCP, such as logging time or updating tasks, is coming soon, but its FAQ says the AI can view and change data within your permissions. Confirm with Accelo and keep approvals on.

Is my data used to train models?

Accelo's MCP page doesn't address training. Accelo says MCP does not copy or permanently store business data, and its AI page says it doesn't expose sensitive client information to public models. Check Accelo's and your AI provider's terms.

Can my accountant use it on my behalf?

Accelo doesn't document this. Each person connects their own assistant and sees only what their Accelo role allows, so an accountant would need their own Accelo user with suitable permissions.
