Bizora Tax Research MCP server, Claude connector and ChatGPT app: what it does, access, how to connect
Bizora runs a hosted, read-only US tax research MCP server, also offered as a Claude connector and ChatGPT app. Each request is billed from prepaid credits. Verified 21 Oct 2026.
- Official remote MCP · read-only research
- Claude connector · read-only research tools
- ChatGPT app · read-only
- Hosting
- Remote HTTP only, hosted by Bizora at https://mcp.api-bizora.ai/mcp (streamable HTTP; legacy SSE at https://mcp.api-bizora.ai/sse). The SSE route is kept for older clients only. There is no local server or public repo.
- Auth
- OAuth browser sign-in for clients that support it, or a Bizora API key (sk_ prefix) sent as a Bearer token in the Authorization header.
- Read / write
- Read-only. Every tool runs a research query and returns an answer with source identifiers. No tool writes to your systems.
- Works with
- Claude.ai and Desktop (built-in or custom connector), ChatGPT (app), Claude Code, Cursor, Kiro and other MCP clients.
- Plan requirement
- For the API and MCP server, a Bizora account with prepaid credits, separate from web-app subscriptions. Bizora lists $0.24 per fast, $1.50 per deep and $0.65 per audit research request. Bizora doesn't document how the Claude connector is billed.

What can an agent do with Bizora through MCP?
An agent can send a US tax or audit research question to Bizora's engine and get back an answer with source identifiers. Bizora offers 4 named research tools plus an auto-routing option.
By default the server exposes one tool, tax-research, which runs fast research. A tools URL parameter or X-Tools header switches to tax-fast-research, tax-deep-research, audit-research, all of them, or an auto tool that picks the route.
Good to know
- Bizora says queries can take over 60 seconds.
- It sends progress updates every 5 seconds only when the client asks for them. A client that doesn't reset its timeout on progress may time out on deep research.
- Default answers carry only compact source identifiers. Full citations need a setting:
response_formatadds page labels, source text and reasoning steps.
Can
- Answer a tax question quickly (tax-research, the default, or tax-fast-research)
- Run multi-step research on a complex tax issue (tax-deep-research)
- Research an audit question (audit-research)
- Let Bizora route each question itself (auto)
- Return richer source detail on request (response_format)
- Run with zero data retention for a connection (zdr=true or X-Zero-Data-Retention header). Bizora's Claude and ChatGPT app guides don't show a way to set it, so in practice it's a custom-connection setting.
Cannot
- Write to an accounting, tax-prep or practice-management system; every tool only researches
- Return full citations by default; per Bizora, the minimal format holds source identifiers only
- Run without credit: per Bizora, a low balance returns an insufficient-balance error
What access does it get?
It gets access to your Bizora research account and its credit balance only. The server's OAuth metadata lists a single scope, tax:research. None of your finance systems are reachable through it.
| Where | Scopes and permissions (as documented) | Admin requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Bizora MCP server (remote, OAuth or API key) | OAuth: the server's protected-resource metadata lists one scope, tax:research, with header-only bearer tokens. API key path: an sk_ key from platform.bizora.ai, drawing on prepaid credits. | Not documented by the vendor. Claude Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds custom connectors. |
| Claude connector (Bizora Tax Research) | Browser sign-in to Bizora; scope names not shown in Bizora's guide. No API key. | Not documented by the vendor. Claude Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds connectors. |
| ChatGPT app (Bizora Tax Research) | Browser sign-in to Bizora; scope names not documented. We couldn't open the ChatGPT listing on 21 Oct 2026, so we can't confirm what it says about read-only tools, credit billing, data sharing or any risk label. Review the listing's disclosures before allowing the app. | Not documented by the vendor. ChatGPT Business/Enterprise: an admin must allow the app. |
How do I connect it?
Bizora recommends its built-in Claude connector or ChatGPT app for most users. In other clients, add https://mcp.api-bizora.ai/mcp and sign in, or send an API key in a header.
- In Claude, open Settings › Customize › Connectors, select Discover and search for "Bizora Tax Research".
- Open the connector, choose Connect to Claude and complete the Bizora sign-in.
- Start a new chat and ask a tax research question.
- For a chosen research mode, Bizora documents a custom connector: Customize › Add custom connector, URL https://mcp.api-bizora.ai/mcp, then sign in.
- Team/Enterprise: an Owner must add the connector before members can use it.
Bizora documents this listing. We could not open a claude.com directory page for it on 21 Oct 2026.
What should a finance team watch for?
Every call spends prepaid credit, up to $1.50 for a deep request. The tools can't write, so cost is the main thing to control.
- Per-request billing: an agent that retries or fans out questions can run up charges. If auto-recharge is on, Bizora charges your card when the balance drops below your threshold.
- Bizora says subscription plans may carry a monthly usage limit (HTTP 429 when hit, with a reset date) but doesn't publish the cap.
- Zero data retention is off by default. Without it, Bizora's privacy policy (updated 30 Jun 2026) states no retention period, and the policy doesn't address model training. Bizora says turning it on can make some models or providers unavailable and leaves abuse monitoring to you. Read the policy and your AI provider's terms before sending client facts.
- Bizora's API page says its SOC 2 Type II certification is still in progress.
- On the API-key path, the key sits in plain text in a headers block in the client's MCP config, which is often synced or shared. Bizora's rule is to send keys in headers and never in URLs. Keep keys out of version control. The OAuth sign-in path stores no key in config, and Bizora recommends its built-in apps for most users.
- Answers are free text, plus source excerpts if you request them. The tools can't change your books, but treat returned text as untrusted and don't let an agent act on instructions in it.
- To limit cost, expose one tool with the tools selector (for example tools=tax-fast-research); the default exposes only the fast tool. Bizora's Kiro config sets autoApprove to an empty list, so each call still asks for approval.
- Answers are research for a qualified person to verify. Check the cited authority yourself.
How could finance teams and accounting firms use it?
It suits research questions and first-draft analysis that a qualified person checks. It has no access to a ledger or a return.
Inside a company
- Ask how a federal rule applies to a planned transaction, then take the cited sources to your tax adviser.
- Draft a short internal memo on a tax position for the controller to review against the sources.
- Check the treatment of an expense category before month-end coding, with citations to confirm.
- Compare fast and deep answers to judge when a $1.50 request is worth it.
At an accounting firm
- Research a client question before a call and file the sources with the workpapers.
- Draft a first-pass research memo that a reviewer edits and signs off.
- Use audit research to prepare questions on an audit issue for the engagement team.
- Run research inside Truss's assistant instead, if the firm already uses Truss (per CPA Practice Advisor).
Whatever the use, a qualified person checks the cited authority before anything reaches a return, a client or the books.

FAQ
Is this official?
Yes. Bizora hosts the server and documents both the Claude connector and the ChatGPT app. We couldn't open a claude.com directory page for the connector, so our source for that listing is Bizora's docs.
Is it free?
No. Bizora's pricing page lists $0.24 fast, $1.50 deep and $0.65 audit research per request, paid from prepaid credits, and its API page says there is no monthly minimum. Bizora doesn't document billing for the Claude connector. Your AI plan is separate.
Does it change data in Bizora?
No. The tools only research and return answers; none writes to Bizora or your finance systems. Each request does deduct credit.
Is my data used to train models?
Bizora's privacy policy doesn't say either way. It says prompts aren't used for advertising or resale, and it offers zero data retention as an opt-in. Check it and your AI provider's terms.
Can my accountant use it on my behalf?
Bizora doesn't document delegated use. It holds none of your records, so an accountant would connect their own Bizora account and credits in their own AI client.
