Hosting
Remote HTTP, hosted by Deel: https://api.letsdeel.com/mcp (JSON-RPC 2.0 with Server-Sent Events). The Claude directory connector uses the same URL.
Auth
OAuth2 with dynamic client registration and PKCE (recommended), or a personal access token sent as a Bearer header for clients without OAuth. Deel says access tokens last 1 hour and refresh tokens 30 days.
Read / write
Read & write. Deel's tools reference lists 86 tools; the Claude listing shows 95. Writes cover contracts, personal details, time off, invoice adjustments and off-cycle payments.
Works with
Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT (developer mode), Cursor, VS Code, any MCP client with HTTP transport
Plan requirement
A Deel account with API access enabled, per Deel; Deel doesn't name a plan. ChatGPT custom connectors need Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise or Education, per Deel.

What can an agent do with Deel through MCP?

An agent can read Deel contracts, people, time off, invoices, payslips and payment reports. It can also make changes: create, amend and sign contracts, update personal details, file time off, adjust invoices and add off-cycle payments.

Deel says each tool maps to a Deel API operation and runs as the authenticated user.

What happens when it writes

Deel's MCP pages don't say whether any write tool creates a draft, so treat every write as a live change.

Tools nobody describes

The Claude listing also names add_workflow_trigger, add_workflow_actions and create_analytics_tile. Neither Deel nor the listing describes them. Their names suggest they create Deel workflows and analytics tiles, so treat them as writes.

Can

  • List contracts, people, teams, legal entities and organisation structure
  • Read paid invoices, Deel fee invoices, payment receipts, payment breakdowns and the detailed payments report
  • Read EOR and Global Payroll payslips
  • Create, amend and sign contracts, including EOR contract quotes
  • Update a worker's personal information
  • Create, update and cancel time-off requests
  • Create and update invoice adjustments; add off-cycle payments to a contract
  • Estimate employment costs, take-home pay and salary ranges by country
  • Create workflow triggers and actions and analytics tiles (Claude listing only; inferred from tool names that Deel doesn't document)

Cannot

  • Exceed the scopes on the token: Deel says the server checks each call against the scopes for the underlying API operation
  • Run faster than the Deel API rate limit: Deel says MCP enforces the same limits as its REST API, 5 requests per second per organisation

What access does it get?

The connection gets the Deel API scopes granted at sign-in. Deel's OAuth metadata advertises 95 scopes. Organisation tools need organisation-level scopes, and worker tools need a worker-level sign-in.

How do I connect it?

Add Deel from the Claude directory, or point any MCP client at https://api.letsdeel.com/mcp and approve the Deel consent screen in the browser.

  1. Open https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/deel and add the Deel connector, or go to Customize › Connectors › Add custom connector with URL https://api.letsdeel.com/mcp.
  2. Sign in to Deel and approve the consent screen; check the permissions it lists before approving.
  3. Test with a read prompt Deel suggests, such as listing your Deel contracts.

Team/Enterprise: an Owner must add the connector before members can connect.

What should a finance team watch for?

The connection you use for payroll questions can also sign contracts and add off-cycle payments. Grant write scopes only to people who would make those changes in Deel themselves.

  • Money and commitments: off-cycle payment and invoice adjustment tools can change what a worker is paid, and signContract (sign_contract in the Claude listing) signs a contract. Deel documents no draft or approval step for these via MCP, so keep client approval prompts on. The Claude listing also includes add_workflow_trigger and add_workflow_actions, which Deel doesn't document. Their names suggest they set up Deel automations that could run after the chat ends, so review them like any other write.
  • Least privilege: Deel advises requesting only the scopes you need and separating read from write (for example, contracts:read without contracts:write). Deel doesn't document which scopes a client requests by default, and its metadata advertises 95 scopes. Check the consent screen, which Deel says shows the requested permissions.
  • Personal access tokens sit in plain text in the client config, which is often synced or shared. Deel warns against committing tokens and says to use environment variables or a secrets manager; prefer OAuth, which Deel says is scoped and revocable. Deel's MCP pages don't say what a PAT can access, so it may reach more than an OAuth grant.
  • Rate limit: Deel says MCP enforces the same rate limits as its REST API: 5 requests per second per organisation, shared across all API tokens.
  • Contract and people records hold free text. An instruction hidden in a field could push an agent to amend a contract or add a payment. Treat tool output as data to check, and don't act on instructions inside it.
  • Credentials on request: createWorkerAccessToken (create_worker_access_token) issues a worker credential, and an injected instruction could steer an agent to mint one; don't approve it unless you asked for it.
  • Payslips and personal details are sensitive. Deel's MCP pages make no retention or training statement; the Claude listing links to Deel's privacy policy. Read it and your AI provider's terms.
  • Tool names differ between Deel's reference (86 tools) and the Claude listing (95); check the live list in your client.

How could finance teams and accounting firms use it?

Read access suits payroll, headcount and contractor-cost questions. Write tools suit drafting changes that a person reviews first.

Inside a company

  • Ask for the detailed payments report or payment breakdown for the month to support a payroll accrual or variance review.
  • List active contracts by legal entity and team to reconcile headcount against the budget.
  • Compare employment cost estimates across countries before a hiring decision, using Deel's calculators.
  • Have the agent propose an off-cycle payment or invoice adjustment (contract, amount, currency, period) in chat. A manager checks it before anyone approves the tool call, because that call makes the change in Deel at once.

At an accounting firm

  • Pull a client's Deel fee invoices and payment receipts to match against the ledger at month-end.
  • Pull EOR or Global Payroll payslips for named workers when reviewing a client's payroll journal. Deel's payslip tools work per worker, so use the detailed payments report for entity totals.
  • List contracts with amendments in the period so the client can confirm cost changes were booked.
  • Use a separate sign-in per client organisation and request read scopes only for review work.

Whatever the use, keep a person approving anything that changes Deel or your ledger, especially payments, adjustments and contract signatures.

FAQ

Is this official?

Yes. Deel hosts the server at api.letsdeel.com/mcp and documents it at developer.deel.com/mcp. The Claude directory listing is marked Made by Deel and Anthropic verified.

Is it free?

Deel doesn't document a separate charge. It requires a Deel account with API access enabled, and your AI client plan must allow connectors.

Does it change data in Deel?

Yes, within the granted scopes. Tools can create, amend and sign contracts, update personal details, manage time off, adjust invoices and add off-cycle payments.

Is my data used to train models?

Deel's MCP pages don't say. Read Deel's privacy policy and your AI provider's terms on training and retention before connecting payroll data.

Can my accountant use it on my behalf?

Deel doesn't document accountant access for MCP. The connection acts as whoever signs in, so their Deel login and granted scopes set what the agent can do.
