Ledgy MCP server: what it reads, what access it gets, how to connect Claude and ChatGPT
Ledgy hosts a read-only MCP server (beta) at app.ledgy.com/api/mcp for querying cap tables. OAuth sign-in, one company per connection. Verified 21 Oct 2026.
- Official remote MCP server (beta) · read-only
- Hosting
- Remote HTTP hosted by Ledgy: https://app.ledgy.com/api/mcp, the same endpoint for every client. No public source code.
- Auth
- OAuth sign-in with your Ledgy login; you pick one company and approve the permissions shown. Ledgy says tokens are short-lived and refresh automatically.
- Read / write
- Read-only. Ledgy says the MCP server cannot create, edit, publish or delete data in the current beta.
- Works with
- Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT and Cursor, each with setup steps from Ledgy (Cursor: Settings › Tools & MCPs or mcp.json, then Connect); Ledgy says Codex was tested but gives no Codex steps. Any MCP client that supports remote HTTP with OAuth should work.
- Plan requirement
- Ledgy Scale plan and above, per Ledgy's help centre. The requirement applies to the company's Ledgy subscription, so a firm can only connect clients on Scale or above. Pricing not published on the pages checked.
- Last changed

What can an agent do with Ledgy through MCP?
An agent can read and query one company's equity data in Ledgy, such as the fully diluted cap table, transactions, option pools and outstanding signatures. It cannot change anything.
Ledgy doesn't publish a tool list or tool count. Its help article gives eight example question types instead, and suggests asking the agent "What can you help me with?" to list its current capabilities.
Who sees what
- Each answer is limited by the signed-in user's Ledgy role, so the agent sees only what that person can see.
Good to know
- Ledgy notes that holdings filters apply to a single date (today unless you name one).
- Questions about changes over a period run without that filter, so they can be slower and their results should be double-checked.
- Ledgy also sells Ledgy Agent, an assistant built into its own app that can create grants and send documents for signing after the user approves each action. That agent is separate from the MCP server, and Claude and ChatGPT can't reach it.
Can
- Show the fully diluted cap table
- Look up transaction details and search by investor or stakeholder
- Report on equity pools and option plans
- List outstanding signatures
- Read offboarding or leaver configurations
- Run simple calculations such as dilution scenarios
- Filter stakeholders by holdings (for example, who owns more than 4%)
Cannot
- Create, edit, publish or delete any data in Ledgy (per Ledgy, current beta)
- See data the signed-in user's Ledgy role cannot see (per Ledgy)
- Connect more than one company per connection (per Ledgy)
- Issue grants, offboard stakeholders or send documents for signing. Only Ledgy Agent, inside the Ledgy app, does those
What access does it get?
Read-only access to one company. The connection acts as the Ledgy user who completes the sign-in and is limited to that user's role. Ledgy does not publish scope names.
| Where | Scopes and permissions (as documented) | Admin requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Ledgy MCP server (app.ledgy.com/api/mcp, beta) | Not documented by the vendor as named scopes. During sign-in you select a company, review the permissions shown and click Allow. Queries inherit the user's Ledgy role permissions. OAuth replaces a shared API key. | A Ledgy account with access to at least one company, on the Scale plan or above. Ledgy says IT or InfoSec may need to approve the connector first. Claude Team/Enterprise: an Owner may need to allow custom connectors. Ledgy doesn't document an in-app switch to turn MCP on or off. |
How do I connect it?
Add https://app.ledgy.com/api/mcp as a custom connector or MCP server in your client, then sign in to Ledgy, pick the company and click Allow.
- In Claude, open Settings › Connectors › Customize and add a custom connector.
- Set the URL to https://app.ledgy.com/api/mcp.
- Click Connect, sign in to Ledgy, select the company, review the permissions and click Allow.
- Team/Enterprise: an Owner may need to allow custom connectors first.
Ledgy documents Claude Desktop; the custom connector setting also applies on claude.ai. Ledgy has no Claude directory listing as of 21 Oct 2026.
What should a finance team watch for?
The server is a beta on Ledgy's Scale plan and above, limited to one company per connection, and its tool set may change.
- Beta: Ledgy says the available tools may change, and it publishes no tool list, rate limits or row caps.
- Point-in-time filters default to today; ask for a specific date for board or audit figures, and double-check answers about changes over a period, as Ledgy advises.
- There are no narrower scopes, so least privilege comes from the Ledgy permissions of whoever signs in. Use a user whose Ledgy access is limited to the data the agent needs. Ledgy ties the connection to the person who completes sign-in, so a shared login weakens attribution.
- Stakeholder names, notes and document titles come back as text; treat them as untrusted input. The server can't write, but an injected instruction could still steer the agent's answers or actions in other connected tools.
- Cap table data is sensitive. Ledgy's AI policy says client data used in AI tools within its platform isn't used to train external or general-purpose models, but it doesn't mention MCP or retention. Once the MCP server returns data to Claude or ChatGPT, that provider's terms apply.
- To revoke access, remove Ledgy from the AI client's connector, app or MCP settings. Ledgy doesn't document revoking MCP access or tokens from within Ledgy, so ask Ledgy Support how to cut off a connection centrally, for example when a user leaves.
How could finance teams and accounting firms use it?
The server only reads, so it suits ownership questions, board and audit preparation, and checks. Any change still happens in Ledgy itself.
Inside a company
- Answer ownership and fully diluted questions for a board pack without exporting the cap table.
- Check option pool headroom and model simple dilution before a hiring plan or round.
- List outstanding signatures and leaver configurations to chase before quarter-end.
- Prepare a first draft of the share and option movement tables for equity disclosures from cap table data, then tie them to Ledgy reports.
At an accounting firm
- Pull a client's cap table and transaction history as of a named date for audit or due diligence work.
- Cross-check stakeholder holdings against share-based payment schedules before sign-off.
- Summarise grants and pool movements for a client meeting.
- Plan one connection per client company, signed in with a user whose access the client has approved; only clients on Ledgy's Scale plan or above can be connected.
Whatever the use, keep a person making and approving every change in Ledgy, and treat AI-built equity figures as drafts until they tie to Ledgy's own reports.

FAQ
Is this official?
Yes. Ledgy hosts the server at app.ledgy.com and documents it in its help centre, labelled beta. It isn't listed in the Claude or ChatGPT directories.
Is it free?
Ledgy says it is available on the Scale plan and above and doesn't document a separate charge. Ledgy's pricing wasn't re-verified.
Does it change data in Ledgy?
No. Ledgy says the MCP server cannot create, edit, publish or delete data in the current beta. Write actions are only in Ledgy Agent inside the Ledgy app.
Is my data used to train models?
Ledgy's AI policy says client data used in AI tools within its platform isn't used to train external or general-purpose AI models; it doesn't mention MCP. Once data reaches Claude or ChatGPT, that provider's terms apply.
Can my accountant use it on my behalf?
Ledgy doesn't document this. The connection acts as whoever signs in, so an accountant needs their own Ledgy access to your company, and their role sets what they can see.
