What can an agent do with LiveFlow through MCP?

It can read QuickBooks Online data that LiveFlow already holds for you: reports, balances and transactions, across the QuickBooks files you have connected to LiveFlow.

LiveFlow is an FP&A and consolidation tool that sits on top of QuickBooks Online and feeds live data to Google Sheets and Excel.

What LiveFlow says

Its homepage says, "Use the LiveFlow MCP to pull any QuickBooks Online data into your AI assistant", and walks through 3 live steps:

  • Connect your QuickBooks files.
  • Ask Claude, ChatGPT or Grok.
  • View live data in Excel and Google Sheets.

Good to know

  • LiveFlow's demo shows a request for one company's Q3 net income by month, answered with a monthly table.
  • LiveFlow publishes no tool list, tool count, setup guide or reference documentation, so the items below come from LiveFlow's own description. LiveFlow names no individual tools.
  • LiveFlow's separate Flow ERP product has its own AI agents for categorisation and reconciliation. LiveFlow publishes nothing that links those agents to the MCP server.

Can

  • Pull QuickBooks Online reports, such as profit and loss figures by month (per LiveFlow's demo)
  • Read account balances from connected QuickBooks Online files
  • Read QuickBooks Online transactions
  • Answer questions across the QuickBooks files you have connected to LiveFlow (LiveFlow's step 1 refers to files, plural)

Cannot

  • Write, post or change anything in QuickBooks: LiveFlow labels "AI agents push data into QuickBooks" as "Releasing soon"
  • Read ledgers other than QuickBooks Online through the MCP server: LiveFlow describes QuickBooks Online data only and doesn't mention Xero or other ledgers for the MCP
  • Move money, approve bills or release payments; LiveFlow describes no such capability

What access does it get?

LiveFlow doesn't publish scopes or a sign-in method for the MCP server; it reads from the QuickBooks Online files you have already connected to LiveFlow.

LiveFlow MCPNot documented by the vendor. LiveFlow describes read access to QuickBooks Online reports, balances and transactions. You make the QuickBooks connection itself inside LiveFlow; LiveFlow doesn't describe how the AI assistant connects to the MCP server.LiveFlow doesn't document which LiveFlow users can connect the MCP server. Claude Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds custom connectors before members can use them. ChatGPT Business/Enterprise: an admin must enable developer mode or allow the app.

How do I connect it?

Ask LiveFlow how to connect first: LiveFlow says the MCP works with Claude, ChatGPT and Grok, but it publishes no server URL, setup guide or directory listing, and no steps for Grok.

  1. Connect your QuickBooks Online files to LiveFlow, then ask LiveFlow for the MCP server URL; LiveFlow doesn't publish one.
  2. If LiveFlow gives you a remote server URL, go to Customize › Connectors › Add custom connector in Claude and paste it.
  3. Complete the sign-in that follows. LiveFlow doesn't document what it asks for.
  4. Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds the custom connector first; members then connect it themselves.

LiveFlow isn't in the Claude connector directory as of 21 Oct 2026. These are Claude's standard custom-connector steps. LiveFlow publishes no Claude steps of its own.

What should a finance team watch for?

The main gap is documentation: LiveFlow publishes no endpoint, sign-in method, scopes, limits or tool list, so get these from LiveFlow in writing before connecting company or client books.

  • Setup, authentication, rate limits, row caps and the tool list are not documented by the vendor. Ask LiveFlow before rolling it out.
  • The server is read-only today, but LiveFlow lists write-back to QuickBooks as "Releasing soon" and doesn't say in words whether it will come through the MCP server. When it arrives, check which actions post directly and which create drafts, and keep a person approving every change.
  • LiveFlow doesn't document whether an MCP connection can be limited to particular QuickBooks files or entities. Ask LiveFlow before connecting, and review who has LiveFlow access.
  • Transaction memos and descriptions are free text. An injected instruction there could push the agent to act through another connected tool that can write, so keep human approval on in those tools.
  • LiveFlow's privacy policy and terms don't address AI assistants or model training. Its trust center says it is SOC 2 Type II certified and lists an AI training data topic for Flow ERP; ask LiveFlow how MCP data is handled and check your AI provider's terms.
  • The assistant can misread report periods or accounts. Check figures against the QuickBooks or LiveFlow report before they go into a board pack or client deliverable.

How could finance teams and accounting firms use it?

The server only reads, so it suits questions and reporting over QuickBooks Online data. Anything that changes the books still happens in QuickBooks, with a person in charge.

Inside a company

  • Ask for net income by month for a quarter and compare it with the budget held in a spreadsheet.
  • Pull cash and other account balances across connected QuickBooks files for a weekly cash summary.
  • List large or unusual transactions in a period for a controller to review before close.
  • Draft commentary for a monthly management report from the profit and loss, for a person to edit.

At an accounting firm

  • Prepare for a client call with a quick read of the client's recent profit and loss and balances.
  • Compare key report lines across several client QuickBooks files connected to LiveFlow.
  • Answer a client's ad-hoc question, such as spend with one vendor this year, from their transactions.
  • Draft a variance note from two periods of reports for a manager to review before it reaches the client.

Whatever the use, check figures against the source report, and keep a person approving anything that changes a company's or client's books.

FAQ

Is this official?

Yes. LiveFlow presents the LiveFlow MCP on its own homepage. It isn't listed in the Claude connector directory or the ChatGPT app directory as of 21 Oct 2026.

Is it free?

LiveFlow doesn't say. Its pricing page has no published plans and asks you to book a demo, so confirm with LiveFlow whether the MCP is included in your subscription.

Does it write to my books?

Not today. LiveFlow describes reading QuickBooks Online reports, balances and transactions, and labels pushing data into QuickBooks as "Releasing soon".

Is my data used to train models?

LiveFlow's privacy policy doesn't address AI or model training. Ask LiveFlow how MCP data is handled, and read your AI provider's terms (Anthropic, OpenAI or xAI) for how they treat connector data.

Can my accountant use it on my behalf?

LiveFlow doesn't document this. Ask LiveFlow how access is granted to an outside accountant, and agree that access in writing before they connect.
