What can an agent do with Loop through MCP?

It looks things up. The 4 tools return your profile, wallet and bank balances, live FX quotes and transaction history. None of them move money.

Everything here comes from the tool descriptions the live connector sends to Claude.

Searching transactions

  • You have to tell the transaction tool which product to search. Its description names linked debit card, credit card and wallet.
  • You can narrow a search to one wallet, line of credit, credit card or bank account by ID.
  • You can filter wallet activity by type: conversions, deposits, incoming payments, outgoing payments and withdrawals.
  • It returns 10 transactions per page by default.
  • All amounts come back in cents, so 150000 means $1,500.00.

Documentation

  • Loop has no help article on it.
  • Its website and Help Centre don't mention MCP, Claude or AI.
  • The Integrations collection covers only Shopify, QuickBooks Online, Wave and Xero.

Can

  • Return the signed-in user's profile: email, name and Loop customer ID (me)
  • List wallet balances and bank accounts with currency, balance and available balance (balances)
  • Quote a live exchange rate across 29 listed currencies, including CAD, USD, EUR and GBP (exchangeRate)
  • Search transactions by product, date range, text, category and wallet transaction type, page by page (Items)

Cannot

  • Send payments, pay suppliers or move funds between wallets and banks: no tool for this appears in the connector
  • Book a currency conversion; exchangeRate returns a quote only
  • Create cards, change limits, approve bills or edit transactions
  • Show a documented scope list, rate limit or data-handling statement; Loop hasn't published one

What access does it get?

Read access to one Loop user's banking data, including every wallet, line of credit, credit card and bank account the transaction tool can target by ID. The dataset records an OAuth sign-in. Loop doesn't publish scope names or say how roles limit what the connector sees.

WhereScopes and permissions (as documented)Admin requirement
Loop Banking MCP connector (Claude)Not documented by the vendor. The connector has 4 read tools: me, balances, exchangeRate and Items (transactions). The balances tool says it returns accounts for the current user. The Items tool's loopProducts filter accepts IDs for a wallet, line of credit, credit card or bank account, so the connector can read across the user's Loop products.Loop doesn't document who can authorise it or whether user roles narrow access. Claude Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds connectors and can restrict them.

How do I connect it?

Loop has no public setup guide or server URL, so start by asking Loop whether the connector is open to your account. Once it appears in Claude, you sign in with your Loop business login.

  1. Ask Loop support whether the Claude connector is available for your business account, and get the server URL from Loop in writing; Loop hasn't published a directory listing or URL.
  2. Before entering banking credentials, check that the server URL and the sign-in page are on a Loop-controlled domain (such as bankonloop.com). Don't authorise a look-alike connector added from a URL someone else supplied.
  3. If Loop appears under Customize › Connectors, select it and sign in with your Loop business account. Because it isn't in Claude's directory, an Owner may need to add it as a custom connector with the URL Loop provides.
  4. Team/Enterprise: an Owner must add the connector before members can connect.
  5. Test it with a read question, such as current CAD and USD balances, and check the figures against the Loop app (amounts are in cents).

Observed in Claude.ai and Claude Desktop. We found no listing in Claude's public connector directory.

What should a finance team watch for?

The connector is undocumented and its behaviour may change. Check figures against the Loop app before you rely on them.

  • No public documentation: tools, access and limits could change without notice, and there is no published support path for the connector.
  • Amounts are returned in cents. A missed conversion turns $1,500.00 into 150000; ask for figures in dollars and spot-check them. Loop's tools describe every amount as cents, so for currencies without two decimal places (JPY, KWD, BHD, OMR) check figures against the Loop app.
  • Transaction searches return 10 rows per page by default, so a month of card activity may take several calls; confirm the totals tie to a Loop statement.
  • FX quotes are live quotes only; the connector can't book them, and Loop doesn't say how long a quote holds, so the rate when you convert in Loop may differ.
  • Payee names and transaction descriptions are free text. Someone could plant an instruction in one to steer the agent's summary. The tools are read-only, which limits the damage. Check the conclusions anyway.
  • Personal and counterparty data leaves Loop: me returns the user's email, name and Loop customer ID, and Items returns payee names and descriptions, all sent to your AI provider. If the same chat has write-capable connectors (email, Slack), injected text could push the agent to send that data elsewhere, so limit which other connectors are enabled alongside Loop.
  • Loop publishes no statement on how connector data is handled or used for training. Check Loop's privacy policy and your AI provider's terms; Loop's Trust Centre lists a SOC 2 Type 2 report (25 Jun 2026) and privacy and data management policies, with nothing on AI or MCP.

How could finance teams and accounting firms use it?

Every tool is read-only, so the fit is questions and reporting on cash, FX and spending. Any change to Loop happens in the Loop app.

Inside a company

  • Ask for current balances across CAD, USD, EUR and GBP wallets without logging in to each.
  • Get a live quote before deciding to convert USD receipts to CAD, then make the conversion in Loop.
  • List last month's outgoing payments or card spend by date and search for a supplier.
  • Draft a weekly cash note from balances and recent wallet activity for a person to review.

At an accounting firm

  • Check a client's wallet activity for the period while preparing a bank reconciliation in the ledger.
  • Find specific transactions by amount or payee when a client asks about an unexplained charge.
  • Summarise FX conversions in the period, alongside the booked rates in the ledger, to support a review of foreign exchange gains and losses.
  • Expect one sign-in per client: Loop doesn't document accountant access for the connector, so ask Loop whether an accountant invited as a team member can authorise it.

The connector can't change Loop. Have a person check any figure before it reaches the books, and make payments and conversions in Loop itself.

FAQ

Is this official?

It appears to be. The connector's name is Loop Banking AI, its description calls it an assistant for Canadian businesses, and you sign in with a Loop account. Loop hasn't announced or documented it publicly.

Is it free?

Loop doesn't say. Loop lists Basic (free), Plus ($79 CAD/month) and Power ($299 CAD/month) plans at its list prices but doesn't tie the connector to any of them. You also need a Claude plan that allows connectors.

Does it change data in Loop?

No. All four tools read data or return quotes. Payments, transfers and conversions stay in the Loop app.

Is my data used to train models?

Loop publishes nothing about the connector on this. Check Loop's privacy policy and your AI provider's terms before connecting.

Can my accountant use it on my behalf?

Loop doesn't document this. The connector acts as whoever signs in. Loop's For Accountants page says businesses can set customised permissions for each team member. Ask Loop whether an accountant invited as a team member can authorise the connector, and how that member's permissions limit what it returns.
