Ping MCP server: what it reads, what access it gets, how to connect

Ping hosts one developer-oriented MCP server (OAuth) that searches a firm's meetings, emails and client context. It publishes no tool list. Verified 21 Oct 2026.

  • Official MCP serverOfficial remote MCP · read (per Ping)
Hosting
Remote HTTP only, hosted by Ping at https://app.pingassistant.com/api/mcp (per its help article). There is no local server or public repo.
Auth
OAuth sign-in to Ping with PKCE and automatic client registration; the server's metadata lists only identity scopes (openid, profile, email, offline_access).
Read / write
Ping describes searching meetings, transcripts, emails, notes and client context. It publishes no tool list and doesn't say whether any tool writes.
Works with
Claude (documented steps). Ping's product page also shows ChatGPT and Cursor; its help article says ChatGPT setup needs Ping's help for now.
Plan requirement
Ping lists Ping MCP on every plan, starting with Best Note Taker ($35 per user per month, or $28 billed annually, per Ping's pricing page); its product page offers a 14-day free trial.

What can an agent do with Ping through MCP?

Per Ping, an agent can search a firm's meetings, transcripts, emails, notes and client context in Ping, within each user's Ping permissions; Ping doesn't publish the full tool list.

Ping is an AI notetaker and client intelligence tool built for accounting firms. Its MCP server is aimed at developers: you get a custom connector URL, with no tool reference and no published limits.

What Ping documents

  • Ping's product page names two example tools, list_meetings and get_client_context.
  • Its access illustration also shows firm billing alongside meetings, notes and client emails. So billing data may be reachable for users who can see it in Ping.
  • Ping's August 2026 changelog says Claude can search meetings, transcripts, clients and emails directly.
  • Its help article adds that Claude shows the available Ping tools once connected.

Writes

  • In Ping's examples, such as drafting a client email from meeting context, the AI client writes the draft. None says the server creates or changes records in Ping.
  • The tool list sits behind sign-in, so we could not confirm that every tool is read-only. Check the tool list your client shows before you rely on that.

Can

  • List and search meetings and transcripts (list_meetings is a named example)
  • Pull client context and client intelligence (get_client_context is a named example)
  • Search client emails and notes captured in Ping
  • Give the AI client meeting history to draft follow-ups, agendas or summaries in the chat

Cannot

  • See more than the signed-in user can see in Ping; access is scoped to each person's permissions, per Ping
  • Connect from ChatGPT without help from Ping for now; Ping says it is waiting on ChatGPT marketplace verification

What access does it get?

Per Ping, the connection reaches the same Ping data the signed-in user can already see; its product page illustrates that as meetings, notes, client emails and firm billing. The OAuth scopes only identify the user and keep the session signed in, so Ping's own permissions set the limit.

WhereScopes and permissions (as documented)Admin requirement
Ping MCP server (remote, OAuth)OAuth metadata lists openid, profile, email and offline_access; no data-level or read-only scope is documented, so the OAuth consent can't be narrowed below the user's full Ping permissions. The server also advertises a device-code grant. Ping says access is scoped to each person's permissions and respects the firm's access controls. Full tool list not documented.Ping doesn't document an admin approval step. Claude Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds custom connectors. ChatGPT Business/Enterprise: an admin must enable developer mode.

How do I connect it?

Add https://app.pingassistant.com/api/mcp as a custom connector in Claude, then log in to Ping and allow access; Ping documents Claude only and handles ChatGPT setup on request.

  1. In Claude, open the side panel and go to Customize › Connectors, per Ping's help article. On Team/Enterprise, an Owner first adds the custom connector in the organisation's settings; each member then connects it from their own Customize › Connectors.
  2. Click + and choose Add custom connector.
  3. Paste https://app.pingassistant.com/api/mcp, leave the other settings as they are and click Add.
  4. When prompted, log in to Ping with your own account and allow Claude to access your Ping account. Claude should then list the Ping tools; review them before use.

Not in Claude's connector directory as of 21 Oct 2026.

What should a finance team watch for?

The main gap is documentation. Ping publishes no tool list, limits or MCP-specific data statement, so confirm what your client shows before connecting firm data.

  • Two URLs are in circulation. Ping's product page shows https://mcp.pingassistant.com, which did not resolve when we checked on 21 Oct 2026; its help article gives https://app.pingassistant.com/api/mcp, which answered with an OAuth sign-in challenge.
  • No full tool list is published. Ping's examples are reads, but it doesn't state that the server is read-only; review the tools Claude lists and keep per-tool approval on.
  • The offline_access scope lets the client refresh its token, so the connection stays signed in, which Ping's changelog also notes. Disconnect it in your AI client when a person leaves or no longer needs it.
  • Transcripts and client emails are free text written by others. An injected instruction in one could push the agent to act through other connected tools, such as sending an email, so keep human approval on for any action that leaves the chat.
  • Ping says it never sells, retains or uses your data to train AI models, and cites SOC 2 Type II and encryption in transit and at rest. Your AI provider's terms govern what reaches the chat.

How could finance teams and accounting firms use it?

Ping is built for accounting firms, so the fit is firm-side questions about meetings and clients, with any drafted email or note reviewed by a person before it is sent.

Inside a company

  • If your finance team records its own meetings in Ping, ask what was agreed in the last board or budget meeting and who owns each action.
  • Pull every discussion of a vendor or contract term from meeting history before a renewal.
  • Prepare a close or audit meeting agenda from open items raised in earlier calls recorded in Ping.

At an accounting firm

  • Before a client call, summarise recent meetings, emails and open questions for that client.
  • Draft a follow-up email from a meeting's transcript and action items, then edit and send it yourself.
  • Ask which clients raised advisory topics, such as cash flow or tax planning, in recent meetings.
  • Brief a colleague taking over a client by pulling the history of meetings and decisions.

Whatever the use, a person reviews anything drafted from Ping data before it is sent to a client or changes a system of record.

FAQ

Is this official?

Yes. Ping hosts the server on its own domain and documents it on its product page and in a help article. Several unrelated open-source projects called ping MCP server check network latency and have nothing to do with Ping.

Is it free?

Ping lists Ping MCP on every plan, starting with Best Note Taker ($35 per user per month, or $28 billed annually, per Ping's pricing page); its product page offers a 14-day free trial. Claude and other AI clients may need their own paid plans.

Does it change data in Ping?

Ping describes searching and reading only, and none of its examples writes to Ping, but it doesn't publish a full tool list or say the server is read-only. Check the tools your client lists after connecting.

Is my data used to train models?

Ping says it never sells, retains or uses your data to train AI models. What your AI client does with retrieved data is set by your AI provider's terms, so check both before connecting.

Can my accountant use it on my behalf?

Ping doesn't document delegated or client-side access. The connection runs as whoever signs in, with that person's Ping permissions (per Ping); Ping is built for accounting firms, so that is usually a firm user.
