Pricefx MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot: what it does, access, how to connect
Pricefx hosts an MCP server (mcp.pricefx.com) that mostly reads pricing data; two tools write. Experimental, early-adopter access only. Verified 21 Oct 2026.
- Official remote MCP (private, per partition) · read & limited write
- Official public MCP endpoint · Knowledge Base read-only
- Hosting
- Remote HTTP only, hosted by Pricefx: a private endpoint per partition (https://mcp.pricefx.com/mcp/<instance>/<partition>) and a public Knowledge Base endpoint (https://mcp.pricefx.com/mcp).
- Auth
- Private: OAuth 2.0 with PKCE using your own Pricefx login, after a partition admin registers the client. Public: no sign-in.
- Read / write
- Mostly read. Two documented tools write to the partition at once: Create Action Item and Deploy Agent. No tool publishes, approves or changes a price, per Pricefx.
- Works with
- Private: Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Copilot Studio, Cline, OpenCode. Public: Claude, ChatGPT, Cline, Continue, Cursor (per Pricefx's docs).
- Plan requirement
- Pricefx customer; no MCP price published. The Early Adopter Program (limited spots) wants customers live in production with an approved enterprise AI assistant.

What can an agent do with Pricefx through MCP?
It can search quotes, customers, products, competition data and Datamart transactions. Two tools write: one creates an action item, the other creates and runs a pricing Agent.
Pricefx's tools page lists 29 tools and says more may be available per environment.
Who sees what
| User | Tools |
|---|---|
| Ordinary users (the Operator profile) | A fixed allowlist of 18. Operators' read tools are that allowlisted subset. |
| Named configurators | Every tool on the partition. |
How actions behave
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Create Action Item | Writes immediately, with no draft step. |
| Deploy Agent | Creates an Agent in your partition and starts its calculation. |
| Generate and Update Agent JSON | Only produce a definition in the chat. |
Good to know
- Pricefx says the assistant "cannot publish, approve, or change a price".
Can
- Search and read quotes, line items and calculated quote prices (private)
- Search customers, products, competition data and Datamart transactions (private; Operators get Customer, Product and Competition Data Search and Datamart Query Data only; the Datamart transaction search tools sit outside the Operator allowlist)
- Read Agent or model table rows and action items (private)
- Create and assign one action item per call (private, write, immediate)
- Create an Agent and start its calculation (private, write)
- Search Pricefx Knowledge Base articles (public; private for configurators only)
Cannot
- Publish, approve or change a price (per Pricefx)
- Link a new action item to a Quote or pick its type (per Pricefx)
- Report whether a deployed Agent's calculation succeeded, only that it started (per Pricefx)
- Return data the signed-in user can't view in Pricefx (per Pricefx)
What access does it get?
The private connection acts as the Pricefx user who signs in. That user's Pricefx permissions and a tool allowlist limit what it can reach. Pricefx publishes no OAuth scope names.
| Where | Scopes and permissions (as documented) | Admin requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Private connection (remote, per partition, OAuth 2.0 with PKCE) | No scope names documented; the token carries the signed-in user's Pricefx permissions. Tool access control is on by default: Operators get 18 allowlisted tools, including both write tools. Users listed in mcp_configurator_user_login_names with the USERAUDIT role get every tool. Pricefx fixes the allowlist; it can't be narrowed per partition, so the default Operator set, write tools included, can't be reduced. The only lever is who sits on the configurator list: keep it empty or minimal, and note that configurator access applies only to the partition where the user is listed. | A user who manages Advanced Configuration Options registers the client in oauthConfiguration per partition. Claude Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds custom connectors. ChatGPT Business/Enterprise: an admin enables developer mode. |
| Public endpoint (https://mcp.pricefx.com/mcp) | No authentication; four Knowledge Base tools only, no customer data. | None documented. |
How do I connect it?
A Pricefx partition admin registers the client in Advanced Configuration Options. Each user then adds the partition URL as a custom connector and signs in. There is no Claude directory listing.
- Partition admin: in Pricefx go to Administration › Configuration › System Configuration › Advanced Configuration Options, click Add, name the option oauthConfiguration and enter the JSON below with your instance and partition (or edit the existing option).
- In Claude go to Customize › Connectors › Add custom connector (Pricefx's guide calls this Settings › Connectors › Add), enter a name and https://mcp.pricefx.com/mcp/<instance base URL>/<partition>, click Continue, keep the detected authentication option and click Add.
- Click Connect, allow access, log in with your Pricefx partition, username and password, then click Grant Access.
- Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds the custom connector for the organisation before members connect.

}Pricefx doesn't state a Claude plan requirement. The public Knowledge Base endpoint https://mcp.pricefx.com/mcp needs no sign-in.
What should a finance team watch for?
Pricefx calls the server experimental and limits it to DEV/QA use. Two tools that any connected user can call write to the partition without a draft step.
- Pricefx's docs say to use the server only in DEV/QA; the Early Adopter Program starts October 2026, with general availability planned for early 2027.
- Create Action Item writes immediately and Deploy Agent creates and runs an Agent; both are on the Operator allowlist, so any connected user can call them, within that user's own Pricefx permissions. Pricefx says Create Action Item doesn't ask for confirmation, so the assistant must confirm details first. Keep your AI client's confirmation prompt on.
- Pricefx warns that allowlisted Groovy tool logic is editable on the partition, so a read tool could later write.
- Pricefx's docs disagree on client registration: the limitations page says manual only, while the Claude and ChatGPT guides say DCR and CIMD work. Expect admin setup per partition.
- Treat quote, customer and product text as untrusted input. Someone could hide an instruction in it that leads the agent to create action items or deploy an Agent. Keep a person approving every write.
- Pricefx's MCP docs don't address rate limits, retention or model training; check Pricefx's and your AI provider's terms.
- Datamart Query Data returns at most 500 rows (default 50) and flags when results are truncated, per Pricefx. Check completeness against Pricefx reports before using pulled data in a review pack.
How could finance teams and accounting firms use it?
Most tools suit pricing questions and quote review; the two write tools suit follow-up tasks and analysis Agents that a person checks first.
Inside a company
- Ask which customers' margins sit below target, using Datamart transaction data, before a renewal.
- Review a quote's calculated prices and line items with commercial finance before it goes to approval in Pricefx.
- Compare transaction prices by segment from Datamart data for a pricing review pack.
- Draft an action item for a pricing analyst to follow up, confirmed by a person before the tool creates it.
At an accounting firm
- Prepare for a client pricing review by summarising quotes, segment price patterns and competitor data the client's user can see.
- In a DEV/QA partition, deploy a modified copy of a client's Agent definition and compare its results in Pricefx with the original; each deploy creates a new Agent and reports only that the calculation started.
- Draft an Agent definition for a client's margin analysis and leave deployment to the client's Pricefx team.
- Plan one connection per client partition, each needing a Pricefx login and admin registration.
Whatever the use, keep a person approving anything that changes Pricefx, and treat AI pricing analysis as a draft until it ties to Pricefx's own figures.

FAQ
Is this official?
Yes. Pricefx hosts it at mcp.pricefx.com and documents it in its Knowledge Base, labelled experimental.
Is it free?
Pricefx publishes no MCP price. Early access is through its Early Adopter Program, which has limited spots and is for customers live in production whose company has approved, or nearly approved, an enterprise AI assistant.
Does it change data in Pricefx?
Two tools write: Create Action Item and Deploy Agent. Pricefx says the assistant cannot publish, approve or change a price.
Is my data used to train models?
Pricefx's MCP docs and announcement don't address this. Check Pricefx's terms and your AI provider's training and retention policies before connecting.
Can my accountant use it on my behalf?
Pricefx doesn't document this. The connection uses the signer's own Pricefx login, so an adviser needs their own user in your partition.
