Prophix One MCP Server: what it does, what access it needs, how to connect it to Claude or Copilot
Prophix runs one official MCP Server that sends governed Prophix One data to AI tools such as Claude and Copilot. Documented uses are analysis and reporting. Verified 21 Oct 2026.
- Official remote MCP · reporting (read)
- Hosting
- Remote, run by Prophix as part of Prophix One. The endpoint URL is not published; there is no local server or open-source repo.
- Auth
- Not documented by the vendor. Prophix says the server connects using its "highest level of security" and that Prophix One access controls are enforced.
- Read / write
- Analysis and reporting only, as documented. Prophix doesn't say whether the server can write back, so treat it as read-only until Prophix confirms.
- Works with
- Any MCP-enabled AI platform, per Prophix, which names Claude and Microsoft Copilot as examples.
- Plan requirement
- Included in an existing Prophix One subscription, per Prophix. Queries use your own LLM provider's tokens.
- Last changed

What can an agent do with Prophix through MCP?
It brings live Prophix One data into an AI tool for financial analysis, dashboards and board reporting. As of September 2026 only 1 Prophix agent is available through it: the Reporting Agent.
Prophix announced the server on 15 September 2026 as part of its Fall 2026 release and says it was available at the end of September.
Uses on its launch page
- Financial analysis on live data with deterministic calculations
- Feeding stakeholder dashboards without manual refreshes
- Automating visual and board report creation
Good to know
- Prophix says "Not all Prophix Agents are available via MCP" and that more are planned.
- It publishes no tool list, tool count or GA/beta label, so the lists below come from its launch materials.
Can
- Analyse live, governed Prophix One data in an MCP client, with calculations run by Prophix, per Prophix
- Use the Prophix Reporting Agent from an AI tool (the only Prophix agent available via MCP as of September 2026)
- Feed charts, dashboards and slides built in the AI tool straight from Prophix data, with no spreadsheet export
- Run variance analysis and build charts from conversational prompts, per the Prophix product tour; the launch page also lists automating board report creation
Cannot
- Reach Prophix agents other than the Reporting Agent: Prophix says more are planned, without dates
- Bypass Prophix One access controls: Prophix says they are enforced on the MCP path
- Run without an external LLM: Prophix says MCP results are sent to your LLM provider and consume your LLM token budget. Prophix Agents used inside Prophix keep data in your Prophix tenancy, per Prophix
What access does it get?
Prophix says Prophix One access controls apply on the MCP path. It doesn't publish the sign-in method, whose identity the connection uses or any named scopes, so confirm with Prophix that each person signs in with their own Prophix login.
| Where | Scopes and permissions (as documented) | Admin requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Prophix One MCP Server (remote) | Not documented by the vendor. Prophix describes the data as governed and says Prophix One access controls are enforced. Its FAQ says Security Manager permissions govern Prophix Agents, but doesn't state the same for MCP specifically. | Not documented by the vendor. A customer quoted by Prophix says the company "turned on" the server, which suggests an enablement step. In Claude Team/Enterprise, an Owner adds custom connectors; in Microsoft Copilot, follow your tenant admin's process. |
How do I connect it?
Prophix doesn't publish setup steps or the server URL. Ask Prophix for the endpoint and sign-in method first, then add it to your AI tool as a custom MCP connection.
- Ask your Prophix account team or Prophix Support for the MCP Server URL, the sign-in method (OAuth or token), whether each person signs in with their own Prophix login, the tool list, and whether any tool can write back. Prophix publishes none of these.
- Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds the custom connector for the organisation before members can connect.
- In Claude.ai or Claude Desktop, open Customize › Connectors › Add custom connector and paste the URL.
- Complete the sign-in Prophix specifies.
Prophix isn't in Claude's connector directory as of 21 Oct 2026 (claude.com/connectors/prophix returns 404). Prophix names Claude as a supported platform but documents no Claude-specific steps.
What should a finance team watch for?
The main watch-points are thin public documentation, where Prophix data goes once it reaches the LLM, and token costs. Those costs land on your AI provider's bill.
- Prophix publishes no endpoint URL, tool list, sign-in method, scopes, rate limits or GA/beta label for the MCP Server; ask Prophix before a rollout.
- Data leaves Prophix: Prophix says MCP results go to the external LLM and then fall under that vendor's security policies, and recommends IT and security review the LLM vendor first.
- Cost: the server is included in the Prophix One subscription, but Prophix says MCP queries consume your LLM token budget, so large reports can add usage on your AI plan.
- Prophix says Prophix One access controls are enforced on the MCP path but doesn't say whose identity the connection uses. Confirm with Prophix that each person signs in with their own Prophix login before relying on their security settings, and avoid a shared admin-level login.
- On training, Prophix says it doesn't use prompts or outputs to train or fine-tune AI models; for MCP, your agreement with the LLM provider governs the rest.
- Report names and commentary are free text the agent reads. If the same chat has write-capable tools for other systems, an injected instruction in that text could push them to act. Keep human approval on for those tools.
How could finance teams and accounting firms use it?
The documented uses are analysis and reporting, so the fit is questions, commentary and board material built from Prophix data. Any change to plans is still made by a person in Prophix.
Inside a company
- Ask which cost centres are over budget this quarter and get a short summary from Prophix data you can already see.
- Build a dashboard or chart in the AI tool from live Prophix numbers instead of refreshing an export each month.
- Draft a first pass of the board deck's financial section from Prophix reporting, for the FP&A lead to review.
At an accounting firm
- Prepare for a client CFO meeting by summarising budget against actuals from the client's Prophix data, under access limited to that client once Prophix confirms how MCP sign-in maps to Prophix users.
- Draft board-pack commentary for a client from Prophix reporting, reviewed against the source reports before it is sent.
- Agree with the client's IT team which LLM provider receives Prophix data before connecting.
Any change to budgets, forecasts or the general ledger stays with a person in Prophix or the source system.

FAQ
Is this official?
Yes. Prophix builds the Prophix One MCP Server and describes it on its Fall 2026 launch page and in its press release. It is not listed in Claude's connector directory.
Is it free?
Prophix says MCP is paid for as part of an existing Prophix One subscription. Queries consume tokens on your own LLM plan. Claude custom connectors work on every Claude plan, and Free is limited to one.
Does it change data in Prophix?
Prophix doesn't say. Its documented uses are analysis, dashboards and reporting, and it describes no write-back. Confirm with Prophix before relying on that.
Is my data used to train models?
Prophix says it doesn't use prompts or outputs to train or fine-tune AI models. Data sent through MCP goes to your LLM provider, whose terms govern training; check both.
Can my accountant use it on my behalf?
Prophix doesn't address this or document how the MCP connection signs in. Prophix says its access controls are enforced, so ask Prophix whether an adviser needs their own Prophix login.
