HubSpot remote MCP server and Claude/ChatGPT connectors: what they do, access and how to connect
HubSpot hosts an official remote MCP server (mcp.hubspot.com) that also powers its Claude and ChatGPT connectors: read and write, OAuth, no deletes. Verified 21 Oct 2026.

What can an agent do with HubSpot through MCP?
Search and read CRM records, activities, conversations and marketing content. Create or update records, notes, tasks, pages, blog posts and campaigns. HubSpot documents a confirmation step for most write tools, and nothing can be deleted.
HubSpot's Claude and ChatGPT connectors run on HubSpot's remote server. The Claude directory lists 36 tools. What each client can write differs.
What it can read
- CRM records, custom objects and segments
- Activities and conversations
- Campaigns, content analytics and users
- Revenue objects such as invoices, orders, quotes and subscriptions (beta, remote server)
What it can write, by client
Per HubSpot's docs and ChatGPT guide:
| Item | Claude | ChatGPT |
|---|---|---|
| CRM records, notes and tasks | Create and update | Create and update |
| Landing pages and blog posts | Create, edit and publish | Create, edit and publish |
| Website pages | Create, edit and publish | Read-only |
| Segments | Create and edit | Read-only |
| Campaigns, properties and pipelines | Create | Create |
| Quotes | Create and update (beta) | Read-only |
| Marketing emails and workflows | Drafts only | Not documented |
| Invoices, payments, payment links and subscriptions | Read-only | Read-only |
Confirmation before a write
Once you confirm a write, it goes straight to the live account.
| Tools | What HubSpot documents |
|---|---|
CRM records (manage_crm_objects) | Shows a proposed-changes summary first. |
| Pages and blog posts | Ask before publishing. Publishing makes content public. New blog posts save as drafts. |
manage_custom_properties, manage_custom_pipelines, manage_marketing_email, manage_aeo_prompts, manage_onboarding | No confirmation step stated. Property and pipeline changes affect forecast reporting, so set these tools to Needs Approval in the client. |
Good to know
- No tool moves money.
- HubSpot's older MCP landing page (developers.hubspot.com/mcp) still describes OAuth 2.0 and a different read/write split. This page follows HubSpot's newer developer and Knowledge Base docs.

What access does it get?
Whatever your HubSpot user can do, narrowed by the permissions you choose at install. HubSpot doesn't publish a fixed scope list for the MCP tools.
| Where | Scopes and permissions (as documented) | Admin requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Remote MCP server (any client) | Set by the tools available at install and the permissions granted; scope names not documented by the vendor. Quote writes need the optional manage revenue objects scope. Reinstall to grant new scopes. | An MCP connector is created under Development › MCP Connectors; HubSpot's current integration guide doesn't say who may create or install it. Its older MCP landing page says an account admin connects first, then other users |
| HubSpot connector for Claude | Permissions chosen on the HubSpot connection page; scope names not documented by the vendor. | Super Admins and App Marketplace Access users connect directly; others need Super Admin approval, and the approving Super Admin chooses the connector's data permissions and who can install it. Claude Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds connectors; Enterprise admins can block connections from HubSpot accounts outside their verified domain (per HubSpot) |
| HubSpot connector for ChatGPT | Permissions chosen on the HubSpot connection page. Scope names not documented by the vendor. | Same Super Admin rule: the approving Super Admin chooses data permissions and who can install. ChatGPT Business/Enterprise: an admin must allow the app |
How do I connect it?
Use HubSpot's connector in Claude or ChatGPT. For other MCP clients, create an MCP connector in HubSpot, then connect to https://mcp.hubspot.com directly.
- In Claude select your profile icon › Settings › Connectors, click Browse, search "HubSpot" and select it (or add it from claude.com/connectors/hubspot).
- Click Connect and log in to HubSpot.
- On the HubSpot connection page, allow only the permissions you need, then click Connect app.
- In Claude set the connector's write tools to Needs Approval, as HubSpot recommends.
- Team/Enterprise: an Owner adds the connector first; in HubSpot, non-admin users need a Super Admin's approval.
What should a finance team watch for?
Once confirmed, writes land in the live CRM and can publish web content. Keep every write tool on approval, and narrow permissions at install.
- HubSpot warns that with Always allow, edits may happen without asking. Set write tools to Needs Approval in Claude and ChatGPT.
- Narrow access at install: allow only the permissions you need. Changing permissions later, including adding write access, means disconnecting and reconnecting (per HubSpot).
- Per HubSpot: CRM search returns up to 200 results per page, lookups take up to 100 IDs, query_crm_data has no joins or currency conversion, and bulk create or update is capped at 10 records. Revenue-object reads (invoices, orders, line items, products, quotes, subscriptions) are in beta. HubSpot API limits apply.
- Tools without a documented confirmation step (custom properties, pipelines, marketing email) can change forecast-relevant settings; keep them on Needs Approval.
- Emails, call notes and chat transcripts are untrusted input: an injected line could push the agent to change deal stages or amounts, or publish a page. Keep approval on.
- For the remote server, keep the MCP connector's client secret out of version control and in the client's secret storage where it has one.
- HubSpot logs connector actions in its Audit Log and says requests respect your data-centre location. For training and retention it points to Anthropic's and OpenAI's terms.
How could finance teams and accounting firms use it?
Reads suit pipeline, billing-status and customer questions; writes suit record updates, notes and tasks that a person confirms first.
Inside a company
- Summarise open deals by stage and close date to sanity-check the revenue forecast.
- Check invoice and subscription status on a customer record before a collections or renewal call (read-only).
- List closed-won deals in a period to compare with what billing has invoiced; invoice reads are in beta and paged, so check totals.
- Draft follow-up tasks for overdue renewals, confirmed by a person before they are created.
At an accounting firm
- Review a client's pipeline against booked revenue when preparing a forecast, using a HubSpot login the client grants.
- Search notes and logged emails for contract terms (start dates, discounts) that bear on revenue questions.
- Log a meeting note on the company record after a client call for the account owner to confirm.
- Plan for one HubSpot account per Claude or ChatGPT account when you work across several clients.
Whatever the use, keep a person confirming anything that changes HubSpot, and tie any revenue figures back to the ledger before relying on them.

FAQ
Is this official?
Yes. HubSpot hosts the remote MCP server and publishes the Claude connector (Anthropic verified, HubSpot Certified App) and the ChatGPT connector.
Is it free?
HubSpot lists the Claude connector at $0 for all HubSpot accounts. You need a paid Claude plan, and some tools need Marketing Hub or Revenue Hub Professional or Enterprise.
Does it change data in HubSpot?
Yes. It can create and update records, activities, pages, blog posts and campaigns, and publish content. What it can write varies by client: ChatGPT can't change quotes, segments or website pages. It cannot delete anything, and invoices and payments are read-only.
Is my data used to train models?
HubSpot's guides say Anthropic doesn't train on HubSpot data except in certain cases, and describe OpenAI's rules by plan. Check HubSpot's and your AI provider's terms.
Can my accountant use it on my behalf?
HubSpot doesn't document delegated access. Each user connects with their own HubSpot login and permissions, so an accountant needs their own user in your account.
